2. For a horizontal loop you need to drill 4-6 ft deep.
What does it cost to maintain a Geothermal heating and cooling unit?
General maintenance is required just to maintain the air filters on the indoor unit, filters are to be changed every one -three months. The loops do not require any additional maintenance. The loops may need to be revised due to the stretching of the pipe over its first full cycle. Larger commercial systems require inhibitors and monthly maintenance.
